What is a fiber termination box?
Fiber termination box is a terminal for a fiber optic cable, with one end cable and the other end fiber pigtails. It is a device that splits a fiber optic cable into individual fibers and is installed on the wall or rack as a user fiber optic box. Its function is to provide fusion splicing between bare fibers, fusion splicing between bare fibers and fiber pigtails, and hybrid connection of optical connectors. And fiber termination box also provide mechanical and environmental protection for optical fibers and their components, and allow for appropriate inspections to maintain the highest standards of fiber management.
FTB Fiber termination box mix fiber splicing, fusion, distribution, storage and winding functions, we often call it fiber cable box, fiber splice box, fiber box, fiber terminal box, fiber distribution box too. What is the fiber termination method?
Fiber termination methods mainly include 3 types:
Fusion splice, cold mechanical connection and coupling connection.
Fusion splice is to use fiber fusion splicer to hot melt the bare fibers together, cold mechanical connection is to use fast connectors for fiber termination, while coupling connection is to use fiber optic adapter / couplers to connector the same type of different types of optical interfaces SC LC FC ST E2000 MPO MTP MU MRTJ etc.

Fiber Optic Termination Box Mounting Methods
fiber optic terminal box are mainly used in household, so mostly are wall mount, but there are some items used for rack mount too.
Wall mount fiber termination box is mostly used indoor wall mount, dust proof, mounting with expansion screws, the material mostly are plastic, white color, and some is metal sheet.
Rack mount fiber termination box is mostly used indoor rack 19inch or 21inch, and with mounting ears, and most of them are cold rolled steel
Sheet SPCC with spraying, color is white, black, or gray, some use aluminum material, max capacity will be 12cores, 24 cores or 48cores, 72 cores, or maximu 144cores. And we often call it 12 port fiber patch panel, 24 port fiber patch panel, etc.
How does a fiber box work?
Fiber termination box main functions are splicing, splitting, distribution, storage, winding and fiber management, it can not work by itself, but should configure with all types of fiber optic device or accessories, like fiber optic cable, fiber optic splitter, fiber optic connectors, adapters, drop cable, etc. Then fully load fiber box can work well as the light transmission performance.

How to open a fiber optic box?
Ordinary small socket panels can be opened directly by hand, no need special tools. Some boxes that are fixed with screws need to be opened with pre configured screws or keys. All mounting kits will be configuration in the accessory bag together with the products.

Fiber optic outlet box is mainly the indoor fiber termination box wall mount, 1 core, 2 core or 4 cores fiber terminal boxes. It is used in household with the GPON EPON XPON ONU ONT or routers at end side.
How to terminate MPO fiber?
MPO fiber will be terminated most of the time by fusion splicer or specify production machines in factory. It is multi fiber, not single fiber, so it is much more expensive and complicated than bunchy fiber.

Fiber distribution box (short FDB or ODB) is a fiber box used for connecting optical cables and optical communication equipment.
It achieves the termination and extraction of optical signals through adapters and optical jumpers, and is suitable for protective connection of optical cables and distribution fiber pigtails, as well as the application of fiber optic terminal points.
Fiber termination box is usually used in end user side or household in FTTH network, but fiber distribution box is often used in floors, buildings or basement areas, and the max capacity will be larger than fiber termination box, mostly used in FTTB, FTTC, FTTP network.

Fiber optic distribution box is mainly used to distribution cables into pieces, the related products loaded will be optical splitters, fast connectors, ftth drop cable 2x3mm or fiber pigtails 0.9m with connectors SC or LC duplex. It is mainly used in outdoor wall mount, pole mount or aerial mount on self-supporting wires.
