Detailed Display of 1 16 Splitter
The fibers have connectors at the ends. In the following picture, the output fibers have green connectors, which are LC connectors (a common type of small-form-factor fiber optic connector). The input fiber also has a connector, which may be of the same or compatible type for easy connection to optical transmitters or other devices.
The output fibers are of different colors, such as green, blue, yellow, etc. These colors follow industry-standard color-coding schemes. For example, in fiber optic cabling, the color sequence helps technicians quickly identify and connect the correct fibers. The input fiber may have a distinct color or marking to differentiate it from the output fibers.
The central module (the rectangular metal) is the core of the splitter. It contains the optical splitting element, which is usually a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) chip. This chip uses micro-optical technology to evenly split the input light into 16 separate output paths. The label on the module usually contains information such as the model number, part number, and specifications like the working wavelength range.
The boxed picture shows a document, which is the datasheet of product. This document details the fiber numbering correspondence, insertion loss for each port, return loss, and other optical parameters. It will specify how the numbering (either printed on the fibers or implied by the color order) maps to the electrical and optical characteristics of each output port.
