Multimode fiber patch cables are fiber patchcords that use multimode fiber optic cables. Due to their high bandwidth, low cost and anti-electromagnetic interference characteristics, multimode fiber patch cables are widely used in short-distance communication scenarios:
Yingda manufactures a wide range of multimode fiber patch cables. Our production and testing standards primarily cover physical specifications, appearance requirements, classification parameters, length and attenuation testing, end-face 3D inspection, optical performance testing, connectivity, and durability testing.
International standards include IEC 60793, IEC 60794, CEI 61754, EN standards, ITU-T, ISO/IEC 11801, and IEEE standards.
The production process of optical fiber patch cords generally includes several steps: cable cutting, threading of loose parts, stripping, insert fibers into ceramic ferrule, glue injection and heat oven, crimping of patch cord boot and main body, end face grinding, end face checking, IL RL testing, labeling, and shipment.
During daily production, if the customer does not specify the cable structure, usually round cables with a diameter of 0.9mm, 2mm or 3mm with single fibers. If the customer has special requirements, we can also make other structures or outer diameters, such as multi-core mini cables, flat cables, bundled cables, figure 8 cables, indoor and outdoor cables, self supporting cables, etc. Some common cable structures are shown below:
Multimode fiber patch cable sheath color varies from different fiber type:
Meanwhile, above colors can be used indoor fiber optic cabling with PVC or LSZH materials, but outdoor cable should be black TPU or PE material with anti-UV function. Custom your cable sheath now!
The connectors of multimode fiber optic patch cords can also be identified directly with the naked eye, especially the LC connectors, which also follow a pattern similar to the color of the fiber optic cable sheath:
In actual production, for low-volume production, OM3 and OM4 can sometimes be replaced with aqua or simply beige connectors. Users can distinguish fiber types by the markings on the cable.
Also, multimode SC connectors are relatively uncommon, so they are generally beige-colored. Other less commonly used connectors, such as FC, ST, SMA, VF45, MTRJ, and MU, are generally designated with a black housing or boot.
Common fiber optic patch cables are generally categorized as patch cord simplex or duplex. Simplex patch cord refers to a single fiber with a single connector at each end. Duplex patch cord refers to a cable with two fibers, each with two connectors. For duplex patch cables, pay attention to the following details:
✅A B identification rings: please mark A/B or 1/2 at each end, ensuring both fibers at both endsare properly connected.
✅Duplex buckles: LC cables are shipped with LC duplex buckles by default. SC cables are generally not included unless requested. SC duplex clip will charge.
✅LC duplex with a pull tab: Generally, LC patch cords with pull tabs have uniboot. This is because LC connectors are half the size of SC connectors, and high-density wiring makes it difficult to plug and unplug directly with your fingers, so pull tabs are more convenient.
✅Uniboot: Yingda can provide uniboots for both LC patch cords and SC patch cords.
Yingda accept start with small order to build up trust, but only focus on wholesaler, distributor or ISP, no retailer. Because the international freight cost for only few pieces are too high to afford, suggest you to buy local.
Yingda are fiber patch cord factory, no middle man, competitive price help you win more market.

Multimode fiber optic patch cables are generally suitable for short-distance transmission, such as within 2 km. The transmission distance varies depending on the fiber type. At a high speed of 10Gbps, the transmission distance of an OM1 fiber patch cable is about 33 m, OM2 patch cord 82 m, OM3 patch cord 100 m, OM4 om4 fiber patch cord150 m, and OM5 mm patch cord 400 m. The higher the transmission rate, the longer the transmission distance.
It is not recommended to use them together due to differences in transmission modes and performance mismatches. This can lead to intermittent disconnections, link failures, or device damage, unless it is a short-term emergency measure over a short distance where no other solution is available.
High productivity efficiency, skilled front-line operators and strict production control ensure timely delivery.
High-precision testing equipment and top industry quality control system ensure high quality standards.
Long-term stable supply chain and cost control that changes in line with market trends ensure the best price
