As we all know, OLT allocates light sources to ONUs, which can be understood as a commander, commanding ONUs under the PON port to send data within a specified time. PON can be classified as EPON based on the different transmission rates of upstream and downstream, GPON, 10GPON, XG(S)PON, The specific details are as follows

Note 1: S is the word symmetrical, both EPON and XGSPON are symmetrical, meaning that the uplink and downlink rates are the same.
Note 2: The speed of 1.25Gbps here is actually 1.244Gbps, and 2.5Gbps is actually 2.488Gbps.
Note 3: GPON products support multiple speed levels, which means there are other matching modes for uplink and downlink speeds, commonly including uplink 622Mbps and downlink 1.25G.
Although XGS-PON has improved upstream speed compared to XG-PON, it is rarely used for this reason. Currently, there are hardly any services that operators are forced to use XGSPON due to insufficient upstream speed. For users, they are more concerned about downstream speed, and the impact of upstream is not as significant as that of downstream.
At the same time, due to the maturity of equipment and technology, the current price of XGSPON products is much higher than that of XGPON equipment, with OLT being about 20% higher and ONU unit price being about 50% higher.
