Description
ST patch cord are fiber optic patch cord with ST connectors at both ends of the optical cable, suitable for single mode and multi-mode cables. ST fiber optic patch cords are one of the older generation fiber optic patch cords, but they have been widely used in multimode networks, including buildings and campus LANs.
ST stands for “Stab&Twist”. The ST connector adopts a metal circular bayonet rotating locking structure, with a long floating spring sleeve built-in to fix the optical fiber. After insertion, it can be rotated half a circle and fixed with the bayonet. And it uses high-precision ceramic ferrule, with excellent loss recovery and insertion performance, making it convenient and fast to use.
The ST connector was developed by AT&T company, with main parameter indicators comparable to FC and SC connectors. However, it is not commonly used in company applications and is usually used for multimode device connections. It is more commonly used when docking with equipment from other manufacturers. Due to its requirement for large space on the panel, it is commonly used in fiber optic distribution frames, and its size can be universal with FC circular adapter holes.
ST and SC interfaces are two types of fiber optic connectors. For 10Base-F connections, the connector is usually ST type, while for 100Base-FX, the connector is mostly SC type. The core of the ST connector is exposed, while the core of the SC connector is inside the connector.
