Detailed Display of 1×4 Optical Splitter
There is 1 input SC connector and 4 output SC connectors, realizing the 1×4 splitting function. The 1×4 optical splitter features SC connectors. These are green-colored, which is a common color coding for SC connectors in some applications, indicating compatibility with standard SC-terminated fiber optic cables. The SC connectors have a push-pull latching mechanism, allowing for easy and secure connection and disconnection. The ferrule at the end of each SC connector is made of ceramic, which provides high precision for optical alignment, minimizing insertion loss and back-reflection.
The fibers used are typically single-mode optical fibers. Single-mode fibers are suitable for long – distance transmission and high-speed data communication as they support only one propagation mode, reducing modal dispersion.
The colored fibers (for the output ports, except the input fiber) have different colors (such as blue, orange, green, etc. as seen in the pictures), which follow the standard fiber color-coding scheme for easy identification and management of different output channels during installation and maintenance. The input fiber is usually white-jacketed in some cases as shown.
The length of the pigtails (the fiber cables with connectors) can vary according to specific requirements, but generally, there is a certain length of fiber from the splitter module to the SC connectors, providing flexibility for installation in fiber optic cabinets, distribution frames, or other network nodes.
