Description

FC patch cord is fiber optic cable with FC connector at both sides. FC fiber optic connector was first developed by NTT in Japan. FC is the abbreviation for Ferrule Connector, indicating that its external reinforcement method is using a metal sleeve and the fastening method is a screw buckle. The earliest FC connector although simple in structure, easy to operate, and easy to manufacture, but it were more sensitive to fine dust at the fiber end and prone to Fresnel reflection, making it difficult to improve the return loss performance. Later, improvements were made to FC connector by using a spherical mating ferrule (PC), while the external structure remained unchanged, resulting in a significant improvement in insertion loss and return loss performance.

 

FC patch cord is one of the early and commonly used fiber optic patch cable, which is not only convenient to apply but also low-cost. It is one of the commonly used fiber optic patch cords, and the end face of the ferrule is mostly ground using APC and UPC types; The fastening method is to use a metal circular thread rotating locking structure. FC connector is easy to insert and remove, has a high installation density, but cannot be connected in a dual form. It has low insertion loss fluctuations and high compressive strength, and is widely used in fiber optic communication networks.
