16 Core MPO/MTP fiber optic patch cord is a fiber patch cord with MPO 16 connectors at both ends of the optical cable. It is mainly used in AI, data centers, cloud computing and cloud storage, and computing centers, and supports 400G and 800G ultra-large-scale data center transmission.
Structure of MTP 16 fiber patch cord
The 16 fiber MTP cable consists of 2pcs MTP 16 connectors and 16 cores optical cable. The fiber type, cable sheath material, structure, and cable length can be customized.
MPO 16 Connector
The mtp optical connector uses a multi-core MT ferrule, not a single-core 2.5mm or 1.25mm ceramic ferrule. The 16 optical fibers are arranged in a horizontal row, not in 2 rows.
The MT ferrule is the main component of the connector. The external dimensions of MT-16 and MT-12 are the same, but the alignment key of the MPO/MTP-16 connector is biased to one side, as shown in the figure below.
16 Fiber MPO To MPO Cable Line Sequence
As shown in the figure below, the MPO/MTP-16 fiber patch cord line sequence is generally 1-16, 2-15, 3-14……16-1, alignment key up to key up, polarity B.
Application Of 16 Fiber MTP Patch Cord
16 Cores MTP trunk cable can be used to directly connect 400G QSFP-DD SR8 optical transceivers at both ends, supporting 400G ultra-large-scale data center transmission. Yingda uses SENKO MPO connector and YOFC quality fiber which ensure high-quality MPO patch cord products, saving space and high-density flexible wiring in data centers.
Application 1: MPO patch cord connects 400G QSFP-DD SR8 optical modules, this solution can be directly replaced by 400G QSFP-DD AOC cable, the interface type is: QSFP-DD-QSFP-DD, cost saving and fast installation.
Note:
400G QSFP-DD SR8 has two interface types on the market: MPO/MTP-16 and MPO/MTP-24. The alignment key is on one side for 16 cores.
Application 2: MPO patch cords connects 400G QSFP-DD SR8 and 200G QSFP56 SR4 optical modules. This requires 1 MPO/MTP-16 to 2×MPO/MTP-8 fiber optic patch cord to connect, and please paid attention to the line sequence for all MPO patch cords.
This solution can be directly replaced by 400G QSFP-DD AOC cable too. The interface type is: QSFP-DD-2xQSFP56
16 Core MPO Adapter
Due to the mo 16 connector alignment key is not in the middle, so the groove of the 16 core MPO adapter is biased to one side too, so it is not compatible with the 12 core, 24 core,48 core MPO adapters.
