Test Methods
The following testing methods are for ST type jumpers:
Test conditions
The testing of fiber optic jumpers should be carried out at the following specified atmospheric pressure:
- Temperature: 15 ℃~35 ℃
- Humidity: 45%~75%
- Air pressure: 86Kpa~106Kpa
Optical performance testing
Appearance
Before conducting optical performance testing, the jumper must first undergo an appearance inspection. Its appearance must be smooth, clean, free of oil stains, scratches, and cracks. The components at both ends of the jumper should be stable, free of looseness, and the connection with the connector should be smooth and easy to insert and remove.
Testing methods
Insertion loss measurement

Test the initial optical power with a test line and reset it to zero

Return loss measurement
Return loss is a measurement of the return of input optical power along the input path caused by fiber optic jumper connectors. The echo loss caused by fiber optic connectors can be generated by the refractive index difference of any adjacent parts and is related to other factors, such as the proximity of parts and their surface smoothness.
This standard specifies the measurement of return loss caused by the connectors of fiber optic jumpers. This test uses the winding test method, and the measurement steps are as follows:
Connect the jumper to the system as shown in the following diagram:

Mechanical performance
Item | Test methods | Test results
Mechanical requirements, | Insertion loss requirements | Return loss requirements
Torsion experiment | Fix one end of the jumper and hang a 1000g load on the other end, twisting ± 180 degrees twice, twisting 10 times per minute, and accumulating 200 times. | No damage, turtle cracking, relaxation, etc | Must meet the requirements of Table 1 | Must meet the requirements of Table 1 |
Tensile test | Fix one end of the jumper and let the other end hang naturally to load a load of 1kg each time, gradually increasing it to 5kg and then holding it for 30 minutes. | No damage, turtle cracking, relaxation, etc | Must meet the requirements of Table 1 | Must meet the requirements of Table 1 |
Repeated insertion and removal experiment | Use the adapter for repeated insertion and removal, record the insertion loss value every 10 times, perform 500 times, and record the insertion loss value for 50 times. | No damage, turtle cracking, relaxation, etc | Must meet the requirements of Table 1 | Must meet the requirements of Table 1 |
High temperature experiment | Heat the qualified sample in a high and low temperature constant temperature box, record the insertion loss value for every 10 ℃ rise, with a maximum of 70 ℃, and maintain the constant temperature for 2 hours. After reaching room temperature, record the insertion loss. | No damage, turtle cracking, relaxation, etc | Must meet the requirements of Table 1 | Must meet the requirements of Table 2 |
Low temperature experiment | Put the qualified sample into a high and low temperature constant temperature box to reduce the temperature. Record the insertion loss value for every 5 ℃ rise, with a minimum of -25 ℃, and maintain the constant temperature for 2 hours. After reaching room temperature, record the insertion loss. | No damage, turtle cracking, relaxation, etc | Must meet the requirements of Table 2 | Must meet the requirements of Table 3 |
Quality Assurance
Daily inspection
Inspect all factory products, and the inspection data can be submitted to the customer at the same time as the products. The daily inspection items include insertion loss value inspection and return loss value inspection.
End face inspection
Visually observe the jumper end face with a 400x end tester to ensure there are no defects, dirt, scratches, etc.
Please refer to the XJSJ-WI824-PZ08-A/02 standard on page 7 for detailed requirements for 400x end inspection
Production process inspection
IPQC of the Quality Department conducts process first piece confirmation and process sampling during the production process to ensure that each process product meets quality requirements. The QC process inspection requirements are detailed in the QW-PZ-010 standard on pages 8 and 9.
Final Inspection (Shipment Inspection)
The final inspection is carried out by the quality department before packing the factory products to ensure that they meet the quality requirements. The sampling inspection quantity is detailed in the standard GB2828-2003 (MIL-STD-105E) on page 11.
Package
To avoid product damage and distinguish product types during delivery, we will package the products in an appropriate way, such as covering the fiber optic jumper core with a dust cap, bundling the entire jumper wire in coils, and packaging the bundled jumper wire in a plastic bag with corresponding identification on the front of the bag.
Put the packaged jumper bag neatly into the cardboard box, seal it with adhesive tape, and attach the corresponding label outward.
Plastic bag labels
The label should indicate the name, model, length, quantity, test data, and production date of the jumper, and the label should be placed in the middle of the plastic bag.

Other important matters
- When the product needs to be transported over long distances, the packaging inside the box should be adequately protected, and it should be indicated on the outside that it cannot be thrown, bumped, or pressed vigorously. At the same time, there should be rainproof and oil proof signs.
- When customers need to change product specifications and production requirements, please provide a written standard and corrected engineering drawings in advance as much as possible.
- The length of each standard jumper produced by our company is * M (±10cm). If there are any other length requirements, please notify us in advance.
If there is any conflict with this technical specification, we will immediately communicate with your technical department.
